San Blas is a wonderful little fishing and shrimping village on the coast of Nyarit. The beach there is long and beautiful, with surf-able waves, perfect sunsets and views of blue mountains behind tall palm groves. Dispite it's beauty and location in the famed Nyarit Riviera, it has remained small-town Mexico in spirit, mostly due a population of little biting insects that keep tourism down to a trickle. We managed to tolerate the jejenes, sand flies and mosquitos long enough to spend a lovely three weeks exploring the village, enjoying the fresh fruits, vegetables and fish available, and swimming in the ocean every evening while watching the sunset. It was a much needed break from the traveling grind.
The bicycle is clearly a very popular form of transportion in San Blas, and because there are so many and the setting is very picturesque, I was able to put together quite a collection of bicycle beauties. Here are some of the highlights for you. See more in my Bicycle Beauties photo gallery.
